Samantha Miller, CKHS senior, captain of the programming club, is involved in the robotics club as well.

Ben Huang and Samantha Miller are this year’s Presidential scholar nominees.

To be eligible for Presidential scholar you must “score exceptionally well on either the Scholastic Aptitude Test of the College Board or the American College Test of the American College Testing Program”.

Considering her nomination, Miller stated “I feel extremely honored to have been nominated. When I received a letter in the mail telling me I was nominated, I almost thought it was a scam; it wasn’t until my counselor talked to me that I started to feel a little excited.”

About her current class schedule, she admitted, “It’s a pretty even spread of some AP classes with some fun electives. One of my favorite classes right now is the independent study Advanced Computer Science course that I’m doing.” She said after high school, “Besides my career goals, I would also like to continue helping out with robotics at the high school. Our robotics team is a great program, and they could always use more mentors.”

Huang stated, “I was a little surprised. I wasn’t ecstatic. It really is just a nomination. It’s just old news rephrased a different way.” Regarding his future goals, he mused, “My goals for the future are kinda vague right now. Attend college. Medical field, preferably at the forefront of med tech.”

Retrospectively, he exclaimed, “High school has prepared me academically, challenging me to work hard. Leadership from clubs and activities. Just associating and working with people. Extracurricular opportunities such as sports, ASB, and programming club.”

To future scholars, Huang suggested, “Don’t procrastinate. Read the textbook. Don’t be afraid to ask for help. Try something new, and continue to work.”
