The third season of “Outer Banks,” a Netflix drama, was released on February 23, 2023. “OBX” has been very successful since it first came out in 2020.

So far, “OBX” has streamed a total of 213.93 million hours. Season three alone had more than 154 million hours streamed within the first four days of it being released. On March 13, 2023, OBX was ranked at number 5 most watched shows on Netflix. “OBX” has received an average of 70% Rotten tomatoes

This popular show follows two groups of teenagers, Pogues and Kooks, in Kildare County, a made-up town in North Carolina. John B (Chase Stokes), Kiara (Madison Bailey), JJ (Rudy Pankow), and Pope (Johnathan Daviss) are Pogues, the ones that don’t have much.

The Kooks include siblings Sarah (Madelyne Cline), Wheezie (Julia Antonelli), and Rafe Cameron (Drew Starky), their father Ward Cameron (Charles Esten), their step-mom Rose (Caroline Arapoglou), and one of Sarah’s romantic interests, Topper (Austin North).

These two groups both have one goal in mind, to get to the treasure before the others do. The Pogues find the treasure each time, but every time they do, the Kooks find a way to steal it from them, so the Pogues have to do everything they can to get it back.

One of my favorite characters from the show is JJ. JJ is very chaotic, he barks at a snake, and even flips off a cop. He is compassionate towards his friends and would do anything to protect them. He believes that there should be no Pogue left behind.

While watching “Outer Banks,” I could feel myself grow connections to most of the characters. Like Kiara, I prefer to spend time with my friends – my chosen family instead of my legal one. JJ acts like everything is great all of the time, but really he struggles, especially with his dad.

The Pogues will always have a place in my soul. The way they care so deeply for each other reminds me of friendships I’ve always wanted. I also long for the kinds of adventures that they go on, the ones that are dangerous and full of thrill but fun, and everything ends okay because they do it together.

I love how each episode has its own adventure, and each season has its own villain. There is almost never a dull moment in this show, and I was constantly on the edge of my seat, waiting for what was going to happen next.

Overall, this is a great show and I 100% recommend watching it if you liked shows like “On My Block,” “The Summer I Turned Pretty,” or “Riverdale.” This show is filled with adventure and suspense. There is plenty of character development and you get to watch relationships build as they get themselves in (and out of) one dangerous situation after the other.
