This year CKHS opened their doors for five exchange students from different countries to give them the opportunity of studying a year abroad. Julia Heidrich – Germany , Warisara Kaypunlert – Thailand, Daniela Sanabria Foreo – Columbia, Takumi Sawada – Japan, and Cecilia Teston – Italy.

Studying abroad can be a scary thing to think about, but for the exchange students, coming to America was a dream come true.

“It was a scary thought at first but everyone here was so kind and welcoming, it was like having a home away from home,” said Julia Heidrich, exchange student from Germany. This unique program gave kids from all around the world the chance to learn, grow and experience a new culture here at CK.

Supported by host families, the students lived here in Silverdale. This living situation allowed the students to participate in sports, go to home sports games, hang out with friends, and really be immersed in the American high school culture. This special experience left exchange students going home and wanting to come back and visit.

“The football games were my favorite, because back home, our high school doesn’t even have a football team,” said Daniela Sanabria Foreo, exchange student from Columbia.

Daniela Sanabria Foreo said, “Overall, studying a year abroad, here at CK is a unique, amazing and fun experience that I wouldn’t trade for anything.”
