The swimming women dove into a great start at Bainbridge Island on the 10th against multiple teams. It was their first meet on the 13th of September and CK swam their hardest but just fell short of winning against Gig Harbor even though there were PRs by the swim relay team. On the 22nd of September against North Thurston, the girls swam their way to secure first place at their home meet, the team was very happy about their win and are hoping for more in the future!

The team this year is lead by new head coach Patrick McKenzie and assistant coach Whitney Dodd.  The former was involved in swim and water polo during high school and at the University of Denver.  Seniors Grace Smith and Lexxi Goettsch are taking charge as co-captains for this 2016 season.

“I feel very privileged to be the swim captain this year since I love being part of this team, which is basically just a family,” said Goettsch. “I am so excited for this season and I have a feeling that we’re going to be a great team this year!”

“I was so excited to hear that I was co-captain with Lexxi because she is such a great role model and leader,” Grace Smith said “and also because we’ve been friends since we started swim together in 9th grade, we have a great coach this year, his teaching mechanism is really good because he gives you the attention you need to become a better swimmer individually and can really work with you one on one.  ”
