Broadcasting

It may seem as if the school is empty at 7:20, but there is a class full of students preparing for the weekly broadcast. The broadcast is streamed live throughout the school for students and teachers to watch.

“Broadcasting is a great opportunity to improve your film taking, computer editing and making videos for social media. You learn a lot about what broadcasting actually does, the broadcast takes several days to make, not just one day,” said senior Nick Norton

Broadcasting is more than just reading off a piece of paper, it is challenging in all sorts of ways: making videos, finding people to interview and getting the school to participate.

There is more than just anchoring in broadcast; there are people behind the scenes who are in charge of technical issues, helping film, writing the script, and acting in the videos.

The broadcast theme changes every week depending on what happened that week. During the 2016 presidential election, the broadcasting class created a debate spoof on the debates. On Halloween, there was a spooky theme with frightful videos. The videos are all based on entertaining students as well as getting the news out in a fun way.
