As the upcoming swim season approaches captains begin to prepare and train for success. Senior captain, Logan Jacobson stated that this year’s team “Consists of lots returning hard working swimmers.” Jacobson has an optimistic view of the team and is excited to see what accomplishments can be made this year. “We have a lot of camaraderie among the team and I am really looking forward to seeing what we can achieve as a team this season.” stated Jacobson.

The tentative date for the start of the season is Nov. 14 and practices occur Monday through Friday. “A typical practice consists of one hour of dry-lands and about one and a half hours of laps in the pool.” states Senior captain Otis Louis.

This season Logan Jacobson will be leading dry-lands. “Dry-lands are strength workouts such as push ups, pull ups, and planks that help increase your strength and endurance when swimming in the pool.” states Logan Jacobson.

Meets begin a few weeks after practices start. Nov. 30 is the first meet scheduled and the boys are scheduled to take on Gig Harbor at Olympic High School in the aquatic center. “Swim meets are the time when the hard work at practice begins to pay off and as a captain I feel a sense of responsibility to create a strong team and motivate swimmers.” states Logan Jacobson.

Swim is a non-cut sport and everyone that is interested is encouraged to participate. “The more swimmers the better, everyone who is interested should give it a try” states Captain Charles Louis. Home meets take place at the Olympic High School pool and if interested in participating paperwork is available in the ASB office. “I am looking forward to the upcoming season, as a team we are all dedicated. I feel like this season will be very successful.” state Senior, Logan Jacobson.
