An option here at CK for Juniors and Seniors as an elective is a course called B.E.S.T, it stands for Business Education School-to-work Training. It is arranged by Mrs. Ferate, this year there are 98 students taking this as an elective for first semester.

When a student takes this elective they get assigned to either Attendance, Main Office, Career Center, Counseling, or a Classroom, “Some prefer teachers, some prefer offices”. The staff member supervising them will give a variety of tasks each day, and they expect the student to be dependable, responsible, and act professionally. Grading is different for this course, attendance is one of the biggest parts of the class.

Being a B.E.S.T can educate students to be independent and responsible for themselves, they learn to take initiative for getting their assignments done without their supervisor hovering over them. Mackenzie Dunham, a B.E.S.T student for Mrs. Ferate, exclaims that, “It gives me responsibilities, this class benefits me because it allows me to get experience with helping people out”. This elective has been improving the atmosphere at CK for 30 years and will continue to do so for years to come.
