At most schools, students live in the district and usually take the bus, every year, same story. But no one really asks students who live out of the Central Kitsap School District. Among 100 students surveyed, multiple students live in the district but maybe about a third of the students live out of district. The three main districts other than the CK school district that our students live in are the Bremerton School District, North Kitsap School District, and the South Kitsap School District.

Senior Ryley Petoff said “the reason why I go to CK is because my dad works here.”

“I was born into the school district and then I moved out but I wanted to continue my education in the school district and I also joined the gifted program”, said sophomore Zack Shoemaker.

A majority of the students that live out of district drive themselves or carpool with other students to get to CK. A pro to driving and carpooling to school is that you don’t have to wake up early to take the bus to school. A con however is that you have to buy a parking pass and might have to walk a long way to get to school. A long way for example would be the parking lot at Newlife Church.

“I think the worst thing about parking is that I’m supposed to park at Newlife and the walk to school is such a struggle because it’s far and when it rains, all of my stuff gets wet so I just ask for a ride up to the senior lot so it makes my commute up to the school so much easier”, said senior Garrett Hall.
