A trend that sweeps the school.

Be Uncool <3

A simple message, with simple meanings. Be uncool, be yourself, don’t run with the crowd. It is a positive thing. It is also not allowed in it´s current form. Instead of going through the official channels like most positivity movements, the unknown creator of ¨Be Uncool <3¨ has written their message in sharpie on bathroom stalls. No matter how many times it gets painted over by the staff,  it keeps reappearing. Sometimes posters appear, ¨Be Uncool <3¨ typed over and over again. These are also unapproved acts of positivity.

Similar, although sanctioned, movements have been found in other schools across the country. One in Las Vegas has ¨So Uncool¨. Their students generally seem to think it does good for their school and community.

Central Kitsap students take a decidedly different point of view.

One girl, who requested to be anonymous, said that it makes her roll her eyes.

¨It’s…probably somebody who got bored in class,¨ she states. There is no real point according to her.

Tony Lott, sophomore, does not believe it relates to him. He, nor several other male students, did not know what ¨Be Uncool <3¨ was. Since the graffiti is centered around the third floor girls bathroom, there is no doubt as to what group ¨Be Uncool <3¨ is aimed towards.

Positivity is a positive thing, there is no way to argue that. Positivity aimed towards a single group is not so positive.
