Our institution has been around since 1924. For 93 years students have come and gone through these hallways, each with their own hopes and dreams into their futures in order to become someone and raise families. As this building is approaching oblivion and a new building is being erected this calls for the remembrance of stories and memories passed down through the ages.

Since the establishment in 1924, Central Kitsap High School has underwent many changes to get to where it is now. A major event, according to Ms. Gail Danner, one of the principles at CKHS, said that, “There was a fire in the early forties and that caused a rebuild and that’s the building [that we have now].” Since then the school has adapted to the change in what students need to succeed as well as the community, according to Danner. Other reasons include remodeling due to the size of the student body.

As far as awards go, Central Kitsap High School is not a stranger to them. According to Mr. Craig Johnson, school administrator, the school has been in the top percentage of schools in the nation. To be more precise the news outlet, US News, listed the high school in the top 9% of schools for college preparation.

Many students have graduated from the high school in the past. According to Johnson many of the more well known ones have gone on to be successful business owners in the community. One notable graduate is Susan Barosy who went on to become a project manager at Starbucks for the Asian Pacific projects.
