High school life isn’t always writing essays and stressing about grades. Looking back at high school you’ll remember the things you did outside of school as well. The hobbies you have are things that you can do and not stress about school, and just do what you love to do. The hobbies of the students of Central Kitsap High School vary from flying planes like Julian Dorsey a senior at Central Kitsap High School or riding horses like Clara Tedford another senior at the High School. A Lot of hobbies are different but at the end of the day we all like doing things outside of School that give us joy.

Some students hobbies are more outlandish than others. Julian Dorsey  a student  pilot, who has been flying for three years has been pursuing his hobby to make it a lifetime career. Dorsey has been wanting to take flight sinse about 5th grade. There are many reasons wanted to start his hobbie of flying.

Dorsey described why he wanted to fly to the Cougar Chronicle.  “I had family service on both sides and that really inspired me.My Dad was in the Air Force and a family friend who went to the Air Force academy and is now a pilot for United Airlines, so having that really motivated me.”

There’s plenty of other students with amazingly interesting hobbies. A lot of students at our school have hobbies that involve various types of animals for instance Clara Tedford, Who trains her dog and is a avid horse rider as well. As for horses she has been getting lessons and riding for along time and has recently just got a horse last summer named Sisco.

” I have been riding since fourth grade, getting lessons and such. I have just recently got a horse named Sisco who is kind of a project, but he is slowly getting there. Sisco started off with no muscle mass at all, and had terrible ground manners which means when your walking him around and brushing him he was very sassy trying to bite me, trying to crush me but now he doesn’t do any of that.”

Tedford is also highly involved with her dog. Tedford trains her dog, Aurora who is a German shepherd for agility and has won two grand champions at the Kitsap County Fair. Aurora is now almost five and hasn’t competed in a year but Tedford is Going to resume training soon and competitions.

This is what Tedford told the Cougar Chronicle about her training. “ I started training her when she was 9 weeks old, she has probably won about two dozen awards ranging from the Kitsap County Fair and various agility trials. We could have gone to state but I decided not to go,Aurora who was nine months old at that time was to young to be put through that stress.”

Senior Cameron Kluge also has a hobby he likes to do inside of school and outside of school. Kluge has been working on computers since freshman year and has taken a class each year to better his ability in understanding computers and the science behind them.

“I started off in computer programing and really liked the subject and I got pretty interested in it and good so I took more classes based around computers. After computer programming I took AP computer science then computer maintenance and repair and senior year I took advanced Computer maintenance and repair.”

With all these computer oriented classes, after high school he plans to develop his hobby into a career. Kluge wants to Become a Computer Engineer. With technology becoming a big part of our future he was driven by all the potential job that will soon be available.

“ Computer science interests me because there are a lot of new jobs that require people to know computers and computer software, and just the need for computer engineers keep growing. This year alone I have probably fixed about 10 to 15 computers. In total about 25 computers I have fixed.”

We are all interested in various things, ranging from piloting airplanes to fixing computers or riding horses and training our dogs. We all have something we love to do outside of school that we are very passionate about and maybe want to pursue as a job, or maybe you don’t want to and just like doing it in your free time.
