Seniors-it’s time. Well, almost. From the moment you stepped foot in the door as a CKHS senior, you’ve been working towards this and next week. School days to graduation have breached the single-digits. Some are scared, some are excited, but all are anticipating the rush of emotion that is sure to come on that stage.

The final dates are coming and going-the Mock Crash, Senior Awards Night, and Prom in the rear-view (May 30th for the first two, June 2nd for the latter), and more are quickly approaching-notably Chromebook turn-in on June 6th and the due-date for Clearance Sheets, the 13th of June.

ASB elections have also flew by-this time hardly rustling the leaves below the seniors’ feet. It was the first time since 4th or 5th grade that the class did not elect a panel to represent them. Treys Neptune, 2017-2018 Senior Class President, reflected on the struggle and reward of being in such an elevated position.

Being Senior Class President is much more stressful than probably any other class president or class officer for that matter, there’s so many events and traditions that need to be panned that most people don’t consider how long they take to plan and accomplish.”

The new ASB officers were elected in late April. For more information about class meetings, get in touch with Ms. Staker.

Other extracurricular events are winding down, such as theatre and sports. SpringFest, the final, annual collection of one-acts, concluded the theatre year in mid-May. Track and other spring spots recently wrapped up their seasons with banquets. Madison Sasaki, a participant in theatre for her entire high school career, and Teagan Taafe, an experienced baseball player, both had no regrets when it came to how they dedicated themselves to their passions. Taafe says he would not change a thing when it came to  his CKHS Baseball career, and Sasaki noted how theatre even helped her mental health.

“It was the one passion that motivated me to push myself harder every day,” says Sasaki.

Coming into the final week, things are not completely finished, however. The following dates and events are approaching fast:

June 11: Senior finals*, periods  1 and 4

June 12: Senior finals*, periods 2 and 5

June 13: Senior finals*, periods 3 and 6

June 13: Senior Clearance sheets due

June 14: Senior Breakfast (6:45am), graduation rehearsal (8am-12:30pm), both at CKHS

June 15: Graduation rehearsal (9am), graduation (7), both at the Kitsap County Fairgrounds

*please note that Senior finals occur during the normal school day. They are regular one-hour long periods, and are not blocked like other finals.

Remember Cougs, finish the year strong!
