Prom season is over, students are hanging up their dresses and tuxes and posting their memories on social media platforms. For the students who are a little lost with putting their prom items away, there’s a alternative solution. Cinderella’s Closet, soon to be Cougar’s Closet is here to take donations from any student who doesn’t want their prom dress and to offer other students different clothes and accessories for students of all sizes. Cougar’s Closet can be found near the Art Rooms, to the right of the staircase and the room on the left.

Tracy Kohlbeck is usually found in the library, greeting the students that come in but she’s also in charge of Cougar’s Closet. The process for borrowing items goes as follows:

  1. Contact either Tracy Kohlbeck, Katie Staker or Grace Chun
  2. Make an appointment
  3. Go down to the Cinderella’s Closet room
  4. Find items that you like
  5. Use the item
  6. Return all of the items

“I think it’s good,” commented Geoffrey Kalonga.

“I think it’s like helpful for the people who can’t afford it,” said Senior Brooke Stahl. All of the items that are featured in the closet are donations from previous students and ASB and Kohlbeck are working towards obtaining more inclusive clothes like tuxedos or dress shoes.

“About since I took over at least half a dozen [students] but i feel like it would be more if it were more advertised,” said Kohlbeck. Although students don’t know much about the closet, it can always benefit from gaining clothes or helping students finish up their Prom looks.

Sadly, it may not always be there to depend on because as CKHS moves to the new building, there may not be a space for Cougar’s Closet to stay in. The Cougar Closet is a cool school initiative that helps students with finding the perfect outfit for free.
